More than 100,000 Americans died from drug overdoses in the period ending May 2021, with more than 75% involving opioids. Naloxone is a safe and effective overdose antidote, but metabolizes faster than synthetic opioids such as fentanyl, putting victims at risk for a secondary overdose, called renarcotization, unless naloxone is re-administered every 60-90 minutes. Our lead product, CP216, is designed to release naloxone over 12-24 hrs to prevent renarcotization.
